Employment & Community Supports

The Employment & Community Support Team meets with service users, listens to their specific career goals and then assists in all aspects of securing and continuing employment in the community. This process often leads to paid employment, job placements or meaningful volunteer activities that give people an opportunity to participate in the community

Located in the Monty Parks Centre building, the Supported Employment team currently represents over 100 individuals with intellectual disabilities in a wide range of community based workplaces.

The staff act as agents to identify work experience opportunities as well as paid employment. Staff may respond to requests from employers who are looking for trained employees to hire, or who are able to offer volunteers the chance to participate in a temporary activity.

Supported Employment & Community Support staff develop and maintain ongoing contact with and support for both individuals and employers.

Monty Parks Centre Garden, Monty's Park

The idea for building a garden behind the Montry Parks Centre began in 1999 by Patty Walker (former CLTB staff).

A ground-breaking ceremony was held in May of 2000. By August 29, 2002 (the gardens official opening) a fence surrounding the entire property and gazebo was built by the woodworking team from Monty Parks, along with several other CLTB staff who volunteered their time.

A sidewalk goes all around the grounds and flower beds and raised garden beds are filled with beautiful colours. Many people enjoy a walk through the garden, sitting in the gazebo or taking time for a relaxing swing.

The garden has been used for barbeques, parties, celebrations and staff meetings. This past July a wedding ceremony was held in the garden.

The garden is open to the public and available to rent for special occasions.
